ABOUT

RAW in FOCUS is an independent photography magazine dedicated to documentary work that observes and records the living planet as it exists today.

The magazine focuses on field-based photography documenting natural phenomena, wildlife behaviour, fragile environments, and the intersection of humanity and the natural world. The work presented here is grounded in direct experience — shaped by time spent observing, rather than by spectacle or performance.

RAW in FOCUS exists to help build understanding of what we have now—the habitats, species, and relationships that still exist—and, by extension, what is increasingly at stake as environments change, human activity spreads, and pressures intensify. The emphasis is on showing rather than telling, allowing photography to carry meaning without simplification or exaggeration.

The magazine is image-led by design. Text is minimal and contextual, intended to support the work rather than interpret it. Narrative projects are welcome where appropriate, but photography remains central.

Built on years of fieldwork and documentary practice, RAW in FOCUS exists solely as a distinct editorial project. It does not offer travel services, publish sponsored content, or accept paid advertising. Editorial decisions are made independently. We seek out photographers and documentarians who are covering visual stories that we believe should be amplified.
